Rob Thomas On Next Album, Solo Tour & Matchbox Twenty: ‘Unless Somebody Knows Something I Don’t, We’re Still A Band’

Rob Thomas had every intention of having her third solo album, The Great Unknown, ready and largely unknown outside their 2015 tour, which starts on June 11, but has not been well – although he has released one , “Trust You.”

“Long ago I just picked a date and said,” I’ll be on the road, and if I’m not on the road at this point I’m going to kill myself, ‘”Thomas said during a recent conference call with journalists to promote the tour. I got a date to be on the road and then moved around. The idea now is to leave on tour for this one to build the excitement for the [album], and then I can do all traditional promo after that. That’s one of the reasons why this summer we collected more than one theater tour instead of doing outdoor sheds and keep it in an environment of “We’re building something. ‘”
The album is based largely, though. “It’s done with the exception of one song,” Thomas told Billboard. “There is a ballad that I wrote the last minute. … It’s just my voice, piano and a string section, and that’s it. If I had to put [the album] now, be proud of it. But I felt like It is missing one really quiet time, and I think that could be it. ”

The great unknown, the first solo album from Thomas Cradlesong 2009, is now expected during the autumn and executive producer Matt Serletic longtime collaborator. But this time, Thomas was diversified to work with other producers and co-writers, including Ryan Tedder on “Trust You” – Thomas said he is “a friend you go out and do a lot of bad decisions “- Ricky” Wallpaper “Reed, Dr. Lucas cohort Cirkut and equipment Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta. “More than a quarter of the record, I actually worked with other artists I’ve ever done for me,” Thomas said. “I always have done for your project. Getting to work with people like Ryan and Wallpaper, I think it helped me keep things fresh and not feel like going back to the same well and just write the same songs over and over and again – that after 20 years that is their greatest fear. “Thomas described the album as diverse – and can also be added that “the ultimate pop album ever made.”

“I come from so many different places,” he said. “I know I have a record Ryan Adams / David Gray in me. I’ve done ’90s’ I’m angry and I do not know why” alternative. I’ve done ‘I’ll make you shake your ass’ pop. I think if I could hit a solid real ‘mourn in your beer,’ then I’m done. ”

The Great Unknown tour ends on August 13 in Englewood, New Jersey, and Thomas is planning more legs to follow the album’s release. The cycle is likely to spread in 2016, but next year is also targeted for further work with matchbox twenty.

“Unless someone knows something I do not, we are still a band,” Thomas said. “We have our 20th anniversary of our first album [You or Someone like You] next year, so I know we’re going to do something there and definitely we will always go out and tour and make music. We have too much fun not.”

Twitter Thomas took hundreds of calls and emails about Pfeizer across the country and Canada, said Todd Taylor, head of the Beaufort County Animal Control.

“That’s out of the norm for our facilities, sometimes we’ll get 10 to 15 responses, but that was crazy,” Taylor said. “It (Twitter) spreads the word fast.”

A veterinarian Chocowinity Pfeizer adopted later in the week, said animal control officer Josh Jobe.

Thomas, a lover of animals, often used his Twitter account to share stories of abuse and neglect of animals throughout the county, along with pets that just need a good home. Thomas and his wife Marisol, started a foundation called Sidewalk Angels, supporting a series of no-kill animal shelters and animal rescue operations.

Grammy Award winning singer learned about Washington area Eims dog Penny, a writer online.

“I write about dogs and learn about dogs from various places, including Facebook, readers alerting me to the dogs at risk of being put down and across groups of dogs networks,” said Eims.

Pfeizer, a mix of Labrador retriever 16 years old, was left in Beaufort County Animal Control after their owners could not care for him anymore because of medical expenses, the animal control authorities said. The dog’s arthritis and skin is thin and missing in places.

Thomas said on his Twitter, “This child is homeless after 16yrs, just because it is old.”

Jobe said Pfeizer was handed over to animal control by a family who had taken charge of the dog’s attention to a different owner, but after several years and could not continue.

“It was just too much for them,” Jobe said.

“Once we got here we were told that is not friendly and does not like certain people,” Jobe said. “So we knew it was going to be a special adoption. Bailouts we have searched for him and had a rescue down from Raleigh, but did not work.”

Rob Thomas Of Matchbox Twenty Talks About Being Called Rock Star: “It Kind Of Rubs Me The Wrong Way”

“The phrase ‘ rock star’ as the phrase is ‘jam ‘ … as we go ‘jam ‘ ,” Thomas said. “It’s something that rubs me the wrong way. “

“I’m going to party like a rock star. ‘re, Like, do not hesitate; you’re not a rock star. You’re just a guy who drinks too much. Know, that does not make you a rock star.”

With many of the married men, holidays, travel and wild groupie temptation is gone. Instead, it’s all about the music.

“I think we are successful musicians,” Thomas said. “We have been fortunate to be successful at it and because we had the time to succeed, we have had time to improve on it.”

As the group travels around the country this summer with the Goo Goo Dolls, the boys admit that there are still some occasions when the title is appropriate rock star.

“We have the opportunity to act like a rock star for two hours a night,” Paul Doucette told E! News describing his time on stage.

But when the lights came on and the crowds go, it’s back to normal.

“When we walk off stage and headed to the bus, I do not feel as if I were sexy rock star get on my bus,” Thomas said. “I’m like, I have to call my wife, I have finished watching my show, and I might be hungry. I have to go to training tomorrow.”

It seems that the band is really enjoying the “real world.”
